Wet Hair Test Shoot
Hello Hello folks! Happy March!
I hope you’ve all been staying warm during this rather cold and snowy winter! I was able to get an actual photo-shoot in this past month and let me just say, it felt amazing to start getting back into a groove after being a recluse due to Co-19.
For this test shoot, I wanted to start playing with the idea of water/ wet subjects and hair. After scheduling I realized that its still winter and it would be harsh to have a model drenched in my living room lol. We opted to just wet the hair to bring out some wave definition and shine and I can say I’m pleased with the direction it went. (This was only a test run until spring).

Some things I learned/ struggled with:
My living room is rather narrow, and so with furniture, it makes it hard to get a wide enough backdrop for the model to have natural range of motion. I’m still working on the solution for this, but until then, I try to be cognizant of their arm placement and learned that if I shoot from a slightly elevated stance I’m able to add a bit of range.
Creative Directing is also a skillset I’m wanting to develop more. I’m surprisingly shy when it comes to taking command, especially when it’s my vision (years of nerve racking critiques in school gave me a semblance of PTSD haha). I have no issue putting the shoot together, organizing everything and all that, but when it comes to critiquing the model and directing, I freeze up and lose my words a bit. I’m a work in progress though.
