Hi, I'm Michel.
I'm a New York–based photographer, designer, and visual storyteller with a fascination for the people behind the work. My practice explores craftsmanship, community, and the quiet moments that often go unnoticed; the hands that build, the conversations that connect us, and the traces we leave behind through the things we create.
My love for photography began in a university darkroom, where I discovered that making a photograph could be just as rewarding as seeing the final image. That experience shaped the way I approach every project today. Whether I'm working with film or digital cameras, I believe the creative process deserves as much attention as the finished photograph.
I create documentary and portrait-based projects that celebrate makers, neighborhoods, and the stories embedded in everyday life. Many of my projects extend beyond the camera, bringing photography into community spaces where exhibitions become opportunities for conversation, connection, and shared experiences.
At its core, my work is about slowing down. In a world that celebrates speed and instant gratification, I'm interested in the value of patience, craftsmanship, and the people whose work often remains unseen. If a photograph can encourage someone to look a little closer, ask a question, or appreciate the care behind something they once overlooked, then it's done exactly what I hoped it would.
